Melbourne Mill

Melbourne Mill was Mango Home's second major project. It comprised the partial reconstruction and full restoration of a mill formerly used for the manufacture of fustian corduroy for trousers.

Once complete there were 18 modern apartments ranging from affordable one bedroomed flats to impressive two storey penthouses with south facing roof terraces.

Most of the mills had fallen silent in the 1960s, and many were demolished. Melbourne Mill survived as an empty shell perhaps because of its integral place in the centre of a popular residential street.

Mango took advantage of this survivor from a bygone age. This restoration combined tradition with contemporary design, creating unique and remarkable homes in which to live.
